iAlcoholTest (BAC Calculator)?
In an article published back in May, article entitled “Four Fun apps for the Guys”, I mentioned an interesting app called Booze Death Calculator. The functionality this app has to offer is quite easy to explain: it lets you calculate how many drinks you can have until you will die from alcohol poisoning. You tell it your weight, how long it takes to finish your drink, and what type of drink you’re having, and the app will tell you how much you can drink until you die from alcohol poisoning.
But let’s assume you don’t want to drink so much that you die from alcohol poisoning. Let’s assume you want to have a drink, then calculate how intoxicated you are. Or to put it on other words, calculate your blood alcohol content/concentration. This is where the functionality provided by another iPhone app comes in.
The app I am talking about is the Alessandro Pappalardo-developed and appropriately named iAlcoholTest. Feed the app a bit of info about yourself (mainly your height, weight, what type of drink you had and how many drinks you had, and if you had anything to eat or not), and it will calculate your blood alcohol concentration. Please note that this is an estimate, not an exact figure. The estimate is calculated based on the info you provided and on the tables of the Italian Ministry of Health.
The iAlcoholTest app is quite easy to use, which to my mind is a good thing. I can’t imagine anyone would be very please to go through a steep learning curve to get accustomed with an app. This is not the case with iAlcoholTest. It is quite easy to create one or more profiles, and it is quite easy to provide the info the app requires to estimate the blood alcohol concentration.
The app even provides you with some information on what effects alcohol consumption has on your body. Based on the BAC level the app calculates, it presents you with info on how that much alcohol can affect you. It also tells you how much time has to pass for your BAC to go down to zero.
We all know that drinking affects your reaction time. Well, this app shows you how much drinking can affect you. You can take a reaction test and the app will calculate your average time of reaction to visual stimuli.
iAlcoholTest is an easy to use app that can calculate your blood alcohol concentration, can test how alcohol has affected your reaction time, and can provide you with some info on how alcohol affects you.
